Message from the Department Head

Prof. Dr. Nazif Ekin AkalanThe health problems that humanity struggles with show significant changes due to reasons such as wars, epidemics, natural disasters and industrialization. What the methods of fighting against diseases in the past and the methods used today have in common is that they both combine current technology and medical knowledge with the right way of thinking and transfer it to our daily lives. The developments that modern societies have achieved in science, technology and industry are spreading all over the world and taking a more prominent place in our lives. Thanks to these developments, many diseases can be diagnosed earlier and treated faster. These developments, which provide significant benefits to our social life, have important direct and indirect effects on our health, by changing our lifestyle and habits. Changing living conditions cause different health problems and decrease the quality of life. Since the health problems faced by humanity change in line with technology and lifestyle habits, it is possible to evaluate the building blocks of these problems correctly and effectively through treatment with analytical thinking, scientific methods and modifying lifestyle habits and protective measures. In this respect, the science of physiotherapy has been placing more importance on the analysis of preventing diseases related to the movement system and approaches for prevention in recent years.

The science of physiotherapy focuses on improving, developing and protecting movement in line with the concept of movement, which is one of the most common characteristics of living things by bringing a new perspective to traditional medicine in modern medicine. In this direction, we try to bring new and advanced solutions to health problems every day with many evaluations and treatments. We are on the way to educate modern physiotherapists who develop the science of physiotherapy, collaborate with other disciplines, evaluate and treat problems with a broad perspective, are humanistic, belief in positive science, integrate with their professional identity and can think analytically.
